      <title>Why &quot;What is Real?&quot; ?</title>
      <link>http://www.mecontemporary.com/blog/blogpost-51.htm</link>
      <description>
In recent months, I have had several encounters withcontemporary Israeli art that have left impressions on me, from PREVIEWBerlin and Fresh Paint (Tel Aviv) art fairs, to visitingIsrael where I was introduced to Israeli artists and the local art scene. Inrecent years, art galleries have cropped up throughout Israel, many in theprominent of Tel Aviv, where both artists and galleries are enjoying a growinginternational interest and market. And so, in collaboration with Tavi ArtGallery in Tel Aviv, I have made a selection of works to share with our Danishcollectors and other art aficionados, and ones which will provide insight intothis growing market.

When talking about Israel, various impressions appearin one's mind: political &#8211; geographic &#8211; historical. But whether romanticized,critical or news-related, our perspective onIsrael, past and present,remains just that &#8211; an outsider's look &#8220;in&#8221; &#8211; and therefore begs the question:how do Israelis themselves view their culture, country, or even the outsideworld?

What Is Real?puts ondisplay various forms and expressions -they each have their ownstory to tell, but they all tend to play with an intruiging ambiguity.Paintings so accurate they look like photos, the staging of dead animals thatmake them seem very much alive, short and minimalistic, often humourous videosthat beg the question, &quot;What is going on? &#8211; what are we seeing?&quot; Allin all this is an opportunity to experience a very unique selection ofcontemporary Israeli art, and at the same time, meet the existential andnone-geographically, commonly shared question:What Is Real?

      <description>...in a short time and at times under very alternative exhibitionforms, it is a great pleasure to invite Galerie im Regierungsviertel, The Thing NYC, TEST Lisbon and Amanda Lear's Pocket - todisplay art and provide a rare insight into the networks' working methods.
Initialized by thegallery's own Nin Brudermann, who herself is attached to a couple of thesenetworks, and greatly organized and brought together by artist and writer ArfusGreenwood, DEAR THICK AND THIN has been pieced together withcontributions from over 50 artists - a real visual fiesta! Cannot wait to sharethe result and hope to see you at the opening!

      <link>http://www.mecontemporary.com/blog/blogpost-19.htm</link>
      <description>READING TERROR
Milica Tomic&#180;s work deals with a variety of social,political and existential issues. Tomic&#180;s research revolves around the rolesand identities we take on / are imposed upon us, and in particular thedifferent roles in crime, victim vs. perpetrator &#8211; and not least how and whythe roles sometimes shift. In this field she investigates war, and the changein the perception of war, which has come from dealing with terrorism, where waris no longer a last resort for a political conflict, but a permanent condition,posing the question: who is terrorized and who is the terrorist?

      <title>New sculptures by Evaristti</title>
      <link>http://www.mecontemporary.com/blog/blogpost-11.htm</link>
      <description>A series of new sculptures in silver patinated bronze just arrived at the gallery. They are called Imploded Worlds and range from approximately 35 to 70 cm in diameter. They are really powerful and have an aesthetic of their own.
I put them on display in the gallery, together with a lamp the artist did in 2008, also in silver patinated bronze.
Please, go to the Evaristti-WORKS page to see more images.
